Drug & Alcohol Policy
WashU is committed to maintaining a safe and healthful environment for members of the university community by promoting a drug-free environment as well as one free of the abuse of alcohol. Violations of this policy will be handled according to existing policies and procedures concerning the conduct of faculty, staff, and students.
Domestic Animal Policy
In order to provide for the health, safety and welfare of all persons on property owned or controlled by WashU, the following rules are established to control domestic animals on university property. (Domestic animals are any dog, cat or tamed animal intended to be a pet or companion for a person).
Demonstrations and Disruption
It is the policy of the university to protect the rights of free speech, assembly and expression by making its facilities available for activities related to the exercise of these rights, including peaceful assembly. The university is a private institution and may limit access to university property and facilities as it deems necessary.
Consensual Faculty-Student Relationships
When one partner to a consensual romantic, dating or sexual relationship holds a position of academic or professional authority with respect to the other partner in connection with their University roles, the potential may exist for favoritism, breach of trust, abuse of power, or conflicts of interest. Such situations may also raise questions concerning the consensual nature of the relationship.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Monitoring and Recording
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the use of CCTV on university property in a way that enhances security but also respects the expectation of reasonable privacy among members of the community. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, schools and departments within the university community.

All bonfire/ open burning events must be authorized by the appropriate personnel. Bonfire/ open burning event may be approved on-campus on a case-by-case basis. All provisions for safe bonfire/open burning events must be met. Violations will be reported to the Judicial Administrator.
Alcohol Policy for Undergraduate Student Events
All events with alcohol need to be registered online through Event Registration form found in WashU Group Organizer (WUGO). The event should be submitted to the Event Registration form no less than 14 days prior to the date of the event.
Alcohol Policy for Graduate Student Events
The Washington University in St. Louis Drug and Alcohol Policy affords recognized student groups the privilege of serving alcohol at certain events. As adults, students are expected to know and abide by all applicable state and federal laws and University policies and procedures.
Fire Safety
Fires pose a significant risk due to their destructive power that and ability to spread quickly. Knowing what to do during a fire situation will save lives.
