Policies & Procedures

Residential Colleges

Life Safety Equipment: Life safety equipment such as smoke detectors, fire alarms, exit signs, fire extinguishers, and hoses are to be used for their intended purpose only. You may not tamper with, play with or remove life safety equipment. Fire, tornado and earthquake drills will be conducted for your protection. You must cooperate fully in these drills.

Objects Thrown from Windows or Balconies: You may not throw any object (including water balloons and paper) from windows or balconies due to the danger this presents to people outside the building.

Explosives: You may not use or possess explosives of any kind, including firecrackers, in the halls.

Quiet hours: Quiet hours will be set when you arrive in the fall. You and your guests must abide by these quiet hours. Quiet means that noise from stereo, TV, conversations, etc., are subdued so that others can sleep, read or study. Consideration of others is expected at all times.

Roofs: You may not go on the roof of any building at any time.

Pets : For reasons of health, public sanitation, and concern for their humane treatment, animals, with the exception of tropical fish, are not permitted.

Guests: Guests are subject to the same rules and regulations as all residents. The host student is responsible for the actions of his/her guest. No guest may be housed in a lounge or any other public area. A student who wishes to house a transient guest in his/her room may do so for a period of not more than four (4) days upon consent of his/her roommate. The Resident Advisor of the floor must be notified upon arrival and departure of the guest for reasons of safety. Residents are responsible for registering their guest by completing a form and submitting it to the Resident Advisor at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to register a guest will result in disciplinary action.
